Priorities of Research & Development and Services

The ILK main department Applied Energy Engineering develops solutions for energy-efficient and innovative products and methods in the fields of refrigeration and thermal engineering within the scope of complex energy systems.

Essential conditions to solve different tasks and duties are our experienced and committed scientists as well as our superior technical equipment. The solution of sophisticated tasks is ensured by cooperation of ILK specialists of different technical disciplines.

Refrigeration with Water as a Refrigerant

Refrigeration with water as a refrigerant in compression cycle cooling systems is the main field of research & development.

On the basis of the first practical suitable compression refrigerating machine with R718 engineered at the ILK Dresden, a new generation of turbo compressors, heat exchangers and peripheral equipment is being designed.

Water Purification and Sea Water Desalination

We offer wide range of services such as scientific studies, concept and design, experimental tests and the supervision of new water purification products and methods in the market.

Thermal cold Generation/ Absorption Refrigeration

The service includes the design and development of absorption refrigerating plants especially with the working pairs H2O / LiBr and NH3 / H2O. Further focal points are the integration of absorption refrigerating systems into complete energy supply systems as well as the solar cold generation.

Complex Energy Systems

Our research & development is focused on methods of solar technology, waste heat utilisation, energy conservation and rational energy application by heat pump utilisation, cogeneration plants (combined heat and power) or polygeneration plants (combined heat, power and refrigeration). In cooperation with our customers, we look for improvement of plants and systems as well as solutions of CO2 reduction.
