ILK Dresden supports companies in the joint preparation of funding applications, project planning and the implementation of funded projects. Securing funding from Saxony, the German Federal Government and the European Union for the collaborate financing of research and development projects is one of the Institute´s core tasks. In collaboration with industry partners, the institute develops practical solutions along the entire value chain and supports companies from the initial project idea through to successful implementation.
An important instrument for collaborative project development is the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) run by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. This funding program enables SMEs to develop innovative products, processes and services while simultaneously benefiting from the research expertise provided by ILK Dresden.

Conducting research and development projects is often associated with substantial investments. Thanks to ILK Dresden’s methodological expertise – for example in experimental investigations, simulations, testing technology and data-based analysis – companies can make use of existing infrastructure and scientific expertise without having to bear high investment costs themselves. This enables small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular to gain cost-effective access to state-of-the-art research and development services. A unique feature of ILK Dresden is its in-house workshop, which provides researchers with skilled technical support through the production of custom individual components.
