BMWE SME Innovation Day 2026

Berlin

ILK Dresden is participating once again:

At the SME Innovation Day hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) on June 11, 2026, in Berlin, the institute will join project partners on-site to present an exciting research and development project funded by Euronorm:

The Naturel Cooling Panel

The goal was to develop a decentralized cooling panel with indirect evaporative cooling (IEC) via membranes, which supplies a room with cooled and filtered outside air while operating without refrigerants and without introducing moisture into the supply air stream. To ensure an extremely low risk of drafts, a novel air outlet with an air discharge surface effective for both convection and room-side radiation had to be developed for the cooling panel. The developed demonstrator of the Natural Cooling Panel enables, in a typical German design scenario (32 °C, 40% RH), supply air temperatures of up to 20 °C.  The exhibit at Innovation Day is a model of the cooling panel measuring 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.2 m and provides a practical demonstration of the innovative use of membranes in HVAC technology.

The event is considered one of the most important platforms for innovation in German SMEs and brings together companies, research institutions, and networks from all over Germany.

Under the motto “Innovative. Strong. SMEs.”, around 300 exhibitors will showcase groundbreaking technologies, practical developments, and creative solutions for current industrial challenges.

The event will place particular emphasis on funding opportunities under the Euronorm program and collaboration between the research sector and small and medium-sized enterprises. Visitors will gain insights into innovative development projects, have the opportunity to network, and learn about funding opportunities, technology transfer, and potential for collaboration.

In addition to the exhibition areas, the SME Innovation Day offers an extensive stage program featuring speed pitches, insights into innovation policy, and networking sessions.

ILK Dresden looks forward to in-person exchanges with partners from industry, research, and development, as well as to engaging discussions on innovation, technology transfer, and joint future projects.
