Task

ILK Dresden has a broad range of acoustic measurement capabilities. The aim of this project is to develop an automated method for evaluating sound power measurements in a reverberation chamber. The goal is to import the existing measurement data in a structured manner, calculate the relevant acoustic parameters, and automatically generate a measurement report from them. Sound power measurements are a key tool for evaluating and comparing noise sources and thus form an important foundation for research, product development, and quality assurance.

Areas of expertise

The institute has already carried out preliminary work on semi-automated data analysis and reporting, which can serve as a solid foundation for this project. This project offers practical insight into engineering-based experimental design and data analysis and is suitable for an internship or a bachelor’s thesis.

The goal is to develop a functional, expandable tool that can be used regularly in the institute’s research operations in the future.

Qualifications

In addition to a basic understanding of acoustics and measurement technology, basic programming skills (e.g., in Python) are helpful, but can be acquired on the job with appropriate training.

Notes

Since our internships and the supervision of student projects are primarily intended to provide practical experience and career guidance, we ask for your understanding that no compensation is provided. However, we would be happy to issue you a formal internship certificate and nominate your student project for the annual academic award presented by the Association for the Promotion of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology (Verein zur Förderung der Luft- und Kältetechnik e.V.).
