Task
The main aspects of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) are thermal comfort, air quality, visual comfort, and acoustic comfort. Consequently, the assessment of IEQ takes into account a wide range of parameters that are generally not captured by a single measurement system. Furthermore, a wide variety of requirements apply to the diverse locations where people spend time (industrial facilities, residential buildings, offices, public transportation, and outdoor areas).
Areas of expertise
As part of a student research project, an existing measurement concept for thermal comfort in accordance with DIN EN ISO 7730 is to be revised and further developed. The goal is to be able to analyze and evaluate thermal comfort in a wide range of potential locations where people spend time. With regard to the evaluation methods, the respective requirement profiles must be taken into account. In addition, the expanded measurement concept should also include aspects of visual and acoustic comfort. The scope and specific focus of the project can be adjusted.
