Areas of application
Process Engineering, Separation Technology, HVAC
Objective
Droplet separators are widely used in process engineering, industrial processes, and HVAC systems. By understanding the relationship between separation efficiency and pressure drop as a function of flow velocity, energy can be saved and performance improved.
Description
To perform the measurements, adapters for the separator, as well as raw and clean gas measurement sections, are required. In the case of diffuse exhaust, a measurement hood is placed on the clean air side of the filter. Specifically, the following services are provided:
- Installation of the test specimen in the ILK Dresden test facility
- Start-up section for the aerosol/oil mist
- Oil mist generator (dual-fluid nozzle system)
- Vertical clean gas measurement hood - for gas flow rate and droplet concentrations
- Gravimetric measurement system for droplet concentration
- APS 3321 particle counter, TSI (USA) for droplet sizes 0.5–20 µm
- SMPS 3936L10 particle counter, TSI (USA) for droplet sizes 0.01–0.9 µm
- Low-pressure cascade impactor (0.008–10 µm)
- Phase Doppler anemometer (0.5–100 µm)
- Measurement equipment for gas flow rate and pressure drop, as well as humidity, temperature, and pressure
