Objective

Testing welding fume extractors ensures that harmful particles and aerosols are effectively removed from the air. It confirms compliance with legal limits and protects employees from health risks. It also evaluates technical performance and helps optimize efficiency and operational safety.

In accordance with DIN ISO EN 21904-2:2020-06, welding fume extraction systems are tested for their fume extraction efficiency. Classification in welding fume class W3 requires a separation efficiency of at least 99%. This makes them suitable for welding unalloyed and low-alloy steels, as well as high-alloy steels with, for example, a nickel and chromium content of > 30%.

The test setup shown in the photo is available for the required measurements.

In this test bench, separation devices with flow rates of 100–2000 m³/h can be integrated and tested. The results of the tests are issued in the form of a test report (certificate).

In addition, our services include the analysis of dust components, such as manganese, nickel, and chromium. This analysis enables us to make well-founded statements regarding compliance with the requirements for clean air recirculation in accordance with VDI 2262:2013-03.
