Can cold reduce rheumatic pain?

Cold therapy is suitable for people with rheumatic diseases and chronic pain. In this therapy, extremely dry air is cooled to -110 °C inside a cold chamber. For the patient, the procedure at these extreme sub-zero temperatures lasts a maximum of three minutes. The skin cools down to around five degrees Celsius, and immediately after leaving the cold chamber, there comes to an increased blood flow throughout the entire body. This stimulates processes that alleviate rheumatic pain.
