Coldest temperature ever recorded in Dresden – measured on January 13, 1987 at Dresden Airport.
The German Weather Service (DWD) is responsible for meeting the meteorological requirements of all economic and social sectors in Germany. Data has been recorded at Dresden Airport in the current DWD station in Klotzsche since October 1960. Prior to that (January 1917 to September 1960), the Wahnsdorf Observatory was responsible for the measurements.
The location of the measuring station has a significant influence on the measured temperature. Altitude, type of buildings, geographical features, and many other factors influence the temperature. As a rule, it is always warmer in the city center than at the airport, which is 227 m above sea level.
The coldest temperature ever recorded at Dresden Airport was -25.3 °C on January 13, 1987.
