ILK Dresden and AQVA Synergy GmbH have won the Saxon State Prize in the category of Technology Transfer / Spin-offs!
This award recognizes successful collaborations between research institutions and companies, where not only the outcome matters, but also the process.
The Institute für Luft- und Kältetechnik, together with its first startup—AQVA SYNERGY—submitted an application for the “Saxon State Prize for Technology Transfer.” Among other things, the mission is to tap into artificial or natural water reservoirs as a year-round, high-performance heat source based on liquid ice technology.
As early as 1992, the first laboratory facility for studying the physical processes involved in the controlled evaporation and condensation of water was established at the ILK Dresden. Today, there are already several reference facilities for vacuum liquid ice technology in operation across Germany as part of innovative energy supply systems, such as at the University of Göttingen, the VW Manufaktur Dresden, and the WindNODE project.
Please feel free to read more about this in our application brochure!
To prepare for the next step—a broader market launch of large-scale systems—the spin-off AQVA Synergy was founded in 2022. AQVA Synergy is based in Zittau. Three members of the team, which now consists of six people, had already worked extensively on the technology at ILK Dresden. They are now working on the planning and implementation of the next customer systems.
Each year, the Free State of Saxony presents the “Grounds, Transfer, and Innovation” awards to recognize projects that drive economic progress, scientific transfer, and social change—thereby raising the profile of innovation from Saxony! Alongside us in the “Spin-off” category were TU Dresden with its CF LAB and the University of Leipzig with Ester Biotech.
We would like to thank the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy, and Climate Protection, in particular State Secretary Thomas Kralinski, as well as the team at futureSAX!
