Areas of application
Development and testing of ammonia-water and water-lithium bromide systems and components. Concept development and planning for the integration of sorption systems into energy supply systems.
Objective
From concept to application: In the field of absorption refrigeration and heating technology, we develop, analyse and optimise components and complete systems for efficient cooling and heating solutions. Through practical research and innovative methods, we enhance performance, reliability and sustainability – for industry, buildings and the energy systems of the futu
Description
Throughout the entire value chain, we drive forward innovative developments in absorption refrigeration and heating technology – covering topics ranging from the use of working fluid pairs such as ammonia-water or water-lithium bromide to the development and design of high-performance components and complete systems. Another focus is on the development and experimental investigation of additives, in particular corrosion and crystallisation inhibitors, to increase efficiency and operational reliability.
In addition, we develop system concepts for generating temperatures below 0 °C using water as a natural refrigerant, as well as technologies for producing liquid ice using thermal drive. Our portfolio is complemented by the design and optimisation of components for absorption systems. One example of this is our development of asymmetrical plate heat exchangers, which are specifically designed for the use of water as a refrigerant.
Our infrastructure and equipment also enable us to carry out measurements on components and systems, either at our premises or at the customer’s site.
In the field of absorption refrigeration and heating technology, we therefore undertake R&D work for manufacturers of sorption systems and system components, as well as conceptual work aimed at ensuring optimal integration into the energy supply systems of, for example, industrial companies (operators).
