Areas of application

Cold storage and distribution; heat extraction from water bodies and ice storage with heat pumps; ice production for material use; water treatment and desalination

Objective

The triple-point process produces liquid ice through the direct evaporation of water at temperatures close to 0 °C. This enables highly energy-efficient operation and offers advantages over conventional ice production methods. The resulting water-ice mixture is pumpable and can be transported and stored via pipelines.

We develop and implement complete systems for liquid ice production based on the natural refrigerant water (R718) and mechanical vapor compression (MVC). Our scope of services ranges from the initial technical concept, thermodynamic design, dimensioning and calculation through to engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning at the customer’s site. The focus is on customized system solutions for the energy-efficient production, storage and distribution of liquid ice, as well as for applications in aquathermics, heat pump systems, water treatment and desalination.

Special components and process engineering solutions are experimentally investigated, validated and optimized in our own specialized test facility. This enables us to further develop system concepts under practical conditions and adapt them precisely to customer-specific requirements. Liquid ice is produced through the direct evaporation of water using the triple-point process at temperatures close to 0 °C. The resulting pumpable water-ice mixture is suitable for hydraulic transport in pipelines and enables flexible solutions for cold storage, cold distribution and material ice applications.
