Areas of application
Calculation of thermophysical material data for refrigeration, HVAC, and energy engineering, as well as integration into simulation software and Microsoft Excel.
Objective
Using the material property libraries, thermodynamic state properties and transport parameters for many refrigerants and heat transfer fluids can be determined for process calculations and design.
Refrigerants - Reflib & ASEREP
The Institute for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology in Dresden (ILK) has been conducting fundamental research on refrigerants for many years. The results of this work include, for example, the refrigerant R723 as well as powerful programs for calculating thermophysical material properties. The material data modules “ASEREP” and “REFLIB” were developed specifically for Windows applications.
They can be integrated into user software and provide functions for thermodynamic state properties and transport parameters of important refrigerants. The two differ in that ASEREP supports only one material data library—namely, the “ASEREP” library developed by the ILK—while REFLIB supports several. Furthermore, special software packages “ASEREPfxl” and “REFLIBfxl” (= “ASEREP and REFLIB for EXCEL”) are available, which enable access to the material data modules via MS EXCEL using so-called “add-ins.”
ASEREPfxl and REFLIBfxl are designed for daily use. Some examples included in the package, such as cycle calculations and vapor tables, demonstrate how the software can be used effectively and are useful tools in their own right. The standard scope of delivery for REFLIB and REFLIBfxl includes the ASEREP and CO₂-LIB libraries for carbon dioxide. Additional libraries are available upon request.

Cooling Brine
ILK Dresden also has many years of experience in the field of research on brines for secondary circuits. For the calculation of secondary circuits using brine, we offer a Windows library for calculating thermophysical material properties. This library can be integrated directly into programs or used via an add-in in Microsoft Excel. The library models the most important thermodynamic state properties and transport parameters for cooling brines in the liquid phase. Material properties are available for various technical brines, such as Tyfocor and Antifrogen, as well as for water in the liquid phase.
