Areas of application
Occupancy areas and rooms in residential and non-residential buildings, centralised/ decentralised HVAC systems, AHU components for heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification
Objective
Thermal comfort and air quality have a significant impact on our well-being, health and productivity. The design and installation of technical building services systems and their components vary in terms of efficiency and precision when it comes to achieving the desired objectives. Proactive analysis can help prevent problems in good time.
Description
A comprehensive range of technical and measurement equipment is available for experimental analyses in the laboratory and in the field:
- Room ventilation lab (divisible, temperature-controlled surrounding surfaces) with two independent full-scale HVAC systems for test specimens or for climate simulation
- Reverberation chamber with temperature-controlled air supply
- Fan test rig (DIN EN ISO 5801)
- Thermal comfort measurement system (ISO 7730): temperature, humidity, radiant temperature, air velocity, draught risk, draught risk (DR), predicted mean vote (PMV) and percentage of dissatisfied (PPD), turbulence level
- CO2 and VOC concentration measurement equipment
- Tracer gas measurement system and IO-Scan for determining air change rates and ventilation effectiveness
- Airflow visualiser, PIV and PDPA for simple and detailed laser-optical flow analyses
- Temperature and humidity measurement technology
- Thermal power measurement
In the same way, numerical methods are used to analyse ventilation concepts, air flows or thermal comfort.
