Areas of application
To design and simulate heat exchangers and systems that use them, these can be measured on appropriate test benches.
Objective
The determination of precise thermodynamic parameters under varying operating conditions is essential for the development of heat exchangers as well as for the validation of design algorithms and related software.
Description
For a defined operating map, the transferred power, pressure drop, temperature differences, and other thermodynamic parameters are determined for heat exchangers exposed to liquid or air (evaporators and condensers).
Measurements are carried out in accordance with the following standards:
- DIN EN 306 Heat exchangers -
Methods of measuring the parameters necessary for establishing the performance - DIN EN 1117 Heat exchangers -
Liquid cooled refrigerant condensers - Test procedures for establishing the performance - DIN EN 1118 Heat exchangers -
Refrigerant cooled liquid coolers - Test procedure for establishing the performance
The tests are conducted on a specially designed test rig.
Operating limits of the test rig:
- Refrigerants: R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, R507 (others on request)
- Secondary refrigerant: brine
- Heat transfer medium: water
- Maximum capacity: condenser - 70 kW, evaporator - 60 kW
Up-to-date calibration of the measurement systems is ensured.
Additional services:
- Support in component design and optimization, as well as software development
- Steady-state and transient thermal simulation
- Thermography
