Three times as many qualified enquiries, intensive technical discussions and new opportunities for industrial collaboration: ILK Dresden reports an exceptionally positive outcome from Chillventa 2026 in Nuremberg. The institute's new stand location in Hall 7a proved to be a decisive advantage.
Chillventa 2026 once again demonstrated the importance of direct exchange between research and industry in advancing refrigeration and heat pump technology. For ILK Dresden, the international trade fair was a resounding success. In particular, the close proximity to heat pump and component manufacturers at the new location in Hall 7a generated numerous valuable industry contacts.
The number of qualified enquiries tripled compared to previous trade fair appearances. Interest ranged from customised test bench development and the design and optimisation of compressors to the efficient and safe use of natural refrigerants.
Competitive Heat Pump Technology Requires Industry-Oriented Research
How can heat pump technology made in Germany remain internationally competitive? This question was at the heart of a short video produced at Chillventa 2026.
In the video, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Franzke, Managing Director of ILK Dresden, highlights the importance of industry-oriented research in making heat pump technologies more efficient, affordable and internationally competitive.
ILK Dresden supports manufacturers throughout the entire development process – from individual components and compressors to optimised complete systems. Its researchers combine scientific expertise with application-oriented development, experimental testing and validation.
After all, innovations must not only work in the laboratory – they must also succeed in the market.

Technical Forums and Direct Exchange as Drivers of Innovation
In addition to discussions at the exhibition stands, the Chillventa technical forums provided valuable insights into current technological developments and future applications.
ILK Dresden also contributed its research expertise: The technical forum featured a presentation entitled “Ice Slurry in New Dimensions – The R718 Triple-Point Process in the 80 kW Capacity Range.” This process opens up new opportunities for refrigeration using water as a natural refrigerant.
Cross-disciplinary enquiries from industry were particularly valuable. They highlight the strengths of ILK Dresden as an independent research institute that combines expertise in refrigeration, air conditioning, energy engineering and materials technology.
Chillventa 2028: ILK Dresden Will Be Back!
The positive response confirms both the institute's technical focus and the success of its new stand concept. Chillventa remains a key platform for ILK Dresden to strengthen existing partnerships, establish new industrial collaborations and address the specific challenges faced by manufacturers.
Special thanks go to NürnbergMesse for the successful hall concept, as well as to all customers, partners and visitors for the inspiring discussions and valuable exchange of ideas.
ILK Dresden is already looking forward to Chillventa 2028!
