Cryogenics and Low Temperature Physics

Priorities of Research & Development and Services

Within the ILK main department Cryogenics and Low Temperature Physics cryocoolers, millikelvin cooling systems and cryogenic components are developed. Furthermore material properties under low temperatures are researched. In addition the cryopreservation of biosystems and applications for the cryomedicine are investigated.

The department manufactures metallic and non-metallic cryostats, pumps for all cryogenic liquids and components for particle accelerators. Furthermore its offer services like the investigation of components or physical measurements such as the determination of thermal material properties under low temperatures, leakage and temperature cycling tests.

The interdisciplinary team of engineers and physicists, supported by technicians and laboratory assistants, covers the following fields.
