As an internationally recognized testing institute with accredited laboratories, we conduct thermal, acoustic, fluid dynamics, and materials science measurements. We test virtually all components and materials used in heating, cooling, ventilation, and energy technology, including applications in cryotechnology.

In 2024, ILK Dresden celebrated its 60th anniversary. Approximately 160 highly qualified employees from the fields of natural sciences, engineering, technology, and business work together across disciplines to develop innovative technologies.

Prizes and awards
ILK Dresden is synonymous with outstanding research, successful technology transfer, and international innovation. Together with AQVA Synergy GmbH, our institute received the Saxony State Prize for Technology Transfer for a successful deep-tech spin-off in the field of resilient energy solutions. ILK Dresden also impressed at the INNOspace Masters competition with its winning project, StellarHeal, which focuses on wound healing in space. Another milestone: in 2022, the ColdHubs project won the prestigious Harvard Roy Award for sustainable, solar-powered cooling solutions in Africa. This innovative technology improves cold chains, reduces food loss and strengthens food security and sustainable agriculture. These awards underscore ILK Dresden’s expertise in the fields of climate protection, energy technology, sustainability and applied research.
