In the name of the organizers we'd like to thank all participants.
62 Participants from 12 countries contributed to a successful second workshop on ‘Cold Applications in Life Sciences’.
With 32 great and inspiring scientific articles from industry and research they demonstrated the current state of knowledge for applications of low temperatures in the field of life sciences.
The wide, interdisciplinary range of topics included new techniques of cell- and tissue cryopreservation in the fields of medicine and protection of species, new technical methods for cryobanking, the design of pharmaceutical freezing steps and the development of novel, biofunctional polymers by application of cold. Nine exhibitors from industry gave an inside view of their product range and provided an active exchange of ideas.
We’d like to sincerely thank all contributors, especially the sponsors, exhibitors, presenters and participants. Special thanks go to the chair of the workshop, Dr. Ina Colombo (Deputy Director General of the International Institute of Refrigeration) and Dr. Ralf Herzog (Managing Director of the ILK Dresden) for assuming the patronage of the event.
Satellite Meeting - "Society of Low Temperature Biology"
On September 7, 2016 the ILK Dresden was host of the annual meeting of the „Society of Low Temperature Biology (SLBT)“
Almost 40 international participants used the conference room at the ILK for the exchange of the latest developments and present research results in the field of low temperature biology. Current challenges in the application of cryopreservation to practices and process in regenerative medicine was one of the main topics. Moreover, old connections could be refreshed and new ones established.
We would like to thank the organizers of the SLBT for the excellent cooperation. We are looking forward to host a meeting in the near future once more.
